NTAC and CERT Release Two New Insider Threat Studies

The National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) and Carnegie Mellon University's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) have released two new studies in their Insider Threat series. Both studies arise from concerns about the capabilities of employees with ill intentions to take advantage of their knowledge of system vulnerabilities and what the effects of their actions would be on organizations. The first report focuses on reported incidents within the Information Technology and Telecommunications sector, while the second "specifically focuses on employees who have perpetrated acts of financial fraud, document fraud, theft of intellectual property, and sabotage via computer against federal, state, and local government agencies.
