British MI6 said recruiting Iranian opposition Kurds

5 March 2008

Excerpt from report by Iranian Tabnak news website on 5 March

Tehran, 5 March: There are reports of new plans by the British espionage apparatus against the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps [IRGC].

According to a Tabnak correspondent in northern Iraq, British intelligence agents known as "MI6" have started a new round of activities against Iran in northern Iraq. They have employed a number of Iranian Kurds, who are members of groups that oppose the Islamic Republic, to collect data and information from Iran.

One of the main targets of this organization [MI6] is the IRGC and they have indeed spent considerably in that regard. This group [of Iranians] look for people who have worked for Iran before, and by offering huge amount of money they can collect information on the IRGC and the strategic province of West Azarbayjan.

Rumour has it that another agenda of the organization is to create a secret organization in Iran's Kordestan to control the activities of the IRGC and give more detailed information on the IRGC to MI6. [Passage omitted]

It should be said that British forces are active under various social and political covers in the region, working against neighbouring countries, especially Iran and Turkey.
